Accessibility Statement

Heritage belongs to everyone. The Nuer Knowledge & Culture Portal is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for all people, including those with diverse abilities and varying levels of technology access.

Visual Accessibility

We maintain high color contrast ratios and support screen readers through comprehensive ARIA labeling. Every archival image is supplemented with descriptive alternative text to ensure the visual history of the Naath is accessible to the visually impaired.

Linguistic Inclusivity

The portal is built to support the specific orthographic requirements of Thok Naath. We ensure that font rendering is consistent across devices and that linguistic content is logically structured for translation tools.

Audio Transcriptions

Our Oral History archive and media performances are being progressively supplemented with full transcriptions and closed captioning in both English and Thok Naath to accommodate those with hearing impairments.

Keyboard Navigation

All interactive elements are fully accessible via keyboard navigation. We maintain clear focus indicators and logical tab order throughout the portal to support users who cannot use a mouse.

WCAG 2.1 AA Compliance

The NNHI portal is designed and tested to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA standards. We continuously work to improve accessibility and welcome feedback from users.
